Chat Display Control
As a dedicated Guild Wars player I have found myself frequently aggrivated by the partial functionality of the chat box in Guild Wars. Don't get me wrong, it's very functional and I like it, but there are three things about it that baffle me.
1. Could we please get a way to shut off the green "drop" text. It's nifty and all, but I really want to shut it off. As an officer I am frequently monitoring guild chat while running a missions and quests, and having to scroll through two boxfuls of "so and so dropped such and such" to grab the last comment from a real person is a pain I don't think we should have to deal with. We just need a checkbox next to "local/guild/team" etc for drop notifications.
2. Could we please somehow limit ctrl-click spam. It's great to get people's attention by calling a target 50 times in a row, but it's going to be the ping noise, map indicator, and target on the party window that makes the difference, not the boxfuls of "I'm targeting mob!" at the bottom of the screen. It's a pretty simple fix, if someone repeats the an identical ctrl-click call in a short period of time, do everything but echo the text to the chat box again.
3. Could we please get a way to change the display life of chat messages when the box is in small mode. I manually changed this in counter-strike when I played it, so that when people said something the message would stay on my screen for a good few minutes, only going away sooner if it was pushed past the top of the chat area. I understand we can hit tilde and leave the box up, but all the extra stuff on the box is pretty intrusive. We just need like a slider or something in options to effect the display life of chat messages.

Completely ironic that we posted chat improvement threads at nearly the same time (I had been working on mine for 2 hours since I'm at work). Funny thing though, there is nothing really parallel in our posts, which is good, since that means no overlap.
I completely agree with all of your points, especially #3, as I was actually going to say something about that in my thread, but it was just too much at once . But yeah, all great ideas and /sign on all of them. As I always say, options are good!
BTW, the thread I keep referring to is: Chat Interface Suggestions - Trade Improvements, but of course, you already knew that

Awesome stuff, haha. Thanks for posting a link back to your thread, if these get bumped enough maybe ANet will see that we are serious about this.

Good stuff, glad to see people agree with me.
This kind of functionality is usually covered in FPS games with custom configs. I don't think that kind of modability suits a game like Guild Wars, and the devs are busy busy which prevents them from spending time on minor issues like this. With that in mind, if we want these changes, we really need to get them heard. Post, bump, sign, debate, whatever it takes!

I would like to know who is drawing on the map
map spam of phallic symbols is annoying
(put the message in the EMOTE window - if space is an issue)

I agree with all your comments, älthough i have 2 of my own:
1. Disable the guild/whisper chat spam blocker, i type fast, meaning, i have to wait 2 minutes to reply on what a friend said if I type a lil too fast. If people do start spamming, you can ignore them on whisper chat, and kick em out of your guild if its on guild chat. Problem solved.
2. When walking through swirls, you miss messages send to you by guild members plz make it so that all stuff in team/ guild chat is send to you after coming through the swirl, like the whisper feature.
